Price statistics is an important indicator that measures the changes in the prices of essential goods and commodities. The DE&S collects, compiles and publishes price statistics like Farm harvest price, Producers' price and Wholesale price on agricultural commodities, animal products and bye-products at regular intervals. In addition to above, the DE&S also collects data on retail price for compilation of District level CPI.
FHP of 136 agricultural items are collected from 116 selected feeding villages @2 per sub-division at fortnight basis.
State weighted average/District average Farm harvest price for the crops is calculated.
Schedule-1 is used for collection of data relating to 136 agricultural items.

• Wholesale price is the price at which a relatively large transaction usually for further sale is effected by the wholesaler. This includes the trade margin and transportation cost paid by the wholesaler.
• Wholesale prices covers agriculture commodities, animals feeds and agriculture implements.
Wholesale prices of 136 agricultural commodities are collected from the 116 primary market /business centres in Schedule-2 and wholesale prices of animal-feeds and agriculture implements in Schedule-6 are collected from each district headquarters.
The data on wholesale price are collected on monthly basis.
Annual State weighted Average prices & Annual District Average prices are compiled for agricultural commodities and for animal feeds and agricultural implements, state/district annual average prices are compiled.

• Producer’s price is the average price at which the commodity is disposed of by the producers in bulk quantities at the village site or at the selected Primary Market during the specified peak marketing period i.e within a time lag of 2 months after the harvesting period.
• Producer prices covers agriculture commodities, animals & birds, animal products and animal bye-products.
Producers’ prices of 136 Agricultural commodities are collected from 116 selected feeding villages tagged with 116 primary markets in Schedule-1, Producer prices of animals & birds in Schedule-3 from one selected cattle/birds’ market in each district, Producers’ prices of Milk & Milk product, Meat, Fish & Egg in schedule-4 from district headquarters of each district and producers’ prices of animal by-product in Schedule-5 from the District Headquarters of the State are collected.
The data on producer price for agriculture commodities are collected on fortnight basis and rest prices are collected on monthly basis.
Annual State /District Average price & District Average price on Live Stocks, Livestock products and by- products are compiled.
